The best safari company ever! We did 7 days across Tarangire, Lake Manyara, Ngorongoro and the Serengeti. The best trip of my life. 8 Days Tanzania Safari
Our guide Emmanuel was absolutely amazing. I felt he went above and beyond to make sure we saw every animal there was to see in Ngorongoro Carter and Lake Manyara National Park. Not only did we get to see the animals, we also so amazing flora, scenery and Emmanuel was full of knowledge about the area, people and animals. Overall our time in Tanzania was made exceptionally better because of the guides we had. Emmanuel was absolutely brilliant to make sure we had good viewing of all sights and animals. No task was to hard. He was friendly, polite, and I felt very safe in his company.

3 night private Masai Mara NP
We were met by Simon from Safari HQ upon arrival in Nairobi and taken to our hotel which was s great way to start our Kenyan experience. Early the next morning, we were collected by Steve our Safari driver in our Safari vehicle for the long drive to the Zebra Valley Mara Lodge located adjacent to the Masai Mara National Game Reserve. Over the next 3 days, we enjoyed a series of fantastic early morning and late afternoon game Safari drives. Steve our driver was exceptional. Being an ex park ranger, his knowledge of the game reserve, the flora and fauna was fantastic. Given the condition of the roads, Steve was never in a rush and always allowed plenty of time to get us some great opportunities to view the amazing wildlife in the Mara reserve. We were extremely privileged that Steve manage to find great sighting / viewings of Elephants, Hippos, Giraffes, Ostriches, Lions, Cheetahs, numerous types of antelopes, Nile crocodiles, Wilderbeast, Zebras – the list goes on. Highlights included lunch under an Umbrella Acacia tree inside the game park. Given were on a 4 person private game Safari, Safari HQ and our Driver Steve were fantastic and the experience provided certainly exceeded our expectations.

7 Day Tanzania Safari
We spent three days in the Ngorongoro conservation area, three days in the Serengeti National Park and one day in the Lake Manyara National Park. We did our safari with Safari HQ. Our guide Emmanuel, was amazing. Not only was he a skilled Driver over the rugged and extremely challenging terrain, he knew exactly the right spots and angles to enable us to get the most spectacular photos. We saw the big five and much, much more many times over. I can only say it was a totally immersive and life changing experience. I would recommend Safari HQ and Emanuel in particular, to anyone wishing to undertake a Safari in Africa.

Uganda Gorilla Trekking FAQs

Practical answers to help you plan your Bwindi gorilla trek and wider East African journey.

A standard Uganda gorilla permit costs USD 800 per foreign non-resident and includes one hour with a habituated gorilla family after tracking them. Eligible low-season permits may cost USD 600 during April, May and November, subject to Uganda Wildlife Authority availability and conditions. Accommodation, transport and other journey costs are additional.

SafariHQ will check availability, secure the correct permit and include it clearly in your quotation. Current tariffs should always be reconfirmed through the Uganda Wildlife Authority before booking.

Standard gorilla trekking allows one hour with a fully habituated gorilla family. The Gorilla Habituation Experience allows up to four hours with a family still becoming accustomed to human presence, accompanied by researchers, trackers and rangers.

Habituation is more immersive, physically demanding and limited in availability. The foreign non-resident habituation permit is USD 1,500 until 31 December 2026, with revised rates expected from January 2027.

Gorilla trekking is available throughout the year. The drier periods from June to September and December to February generally provide more manageable forest trails. April, May and November are wetter, but they offer greener scenery, fewer visitors and possible low-season permit savings.

Rain can occur at any time in Bwindi, so waterproof clothing and suitable hiking footwear are essential in every season.

Gorilla trekking can range from a relatively short forest walk to several hours on steep, muddy and uneven terrain. The difficulty depends on the gorillas’ location, weather and the trekking sector assigned. A reasonable level of fitness is recommended, but you can hire a porter and request a more manageable trekking group where circumstances allow.

The standard minimum trekking age is 15 years.

We recommend booking at least six months ahead, particularly for travel from June to September or during Christmas and New Year. Gorilla permits are limited for each trekking day and popular dates can sell out much earlier.

Last-minute trips may still be possible if permits and suitable accommodation remain available, so it is always worth asking us to check.

Yes. Uganda combines naturally with Tanzania’s Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater and Tarangire, creating a journey from classic wildlife viewing to Bwindi’s mountain gorillas. Uganda can also be paired with Rwanda for gorillas, golden monkeys, cultural experiences and other primate encounters.

SafariHQ can arrange the regional flights, road transfers, accommodation and gorilla permits as one connected East African itinerary. Allow approximately 10–14 days for a comfortable Uganda and Tanzania combination; shorter Uganda and Rwanda journeys are also possible.
