Lower rainfall generally makes forest trails easier to navigate. Demand for gorilla permits can be high, so early booking is recommended.
MAR–MAY
Long Rainy Season
Heavier rainfall creates lush forest scenery and fewer visitors. Trails can become muddy and more physically challenging during this period.
Peak Trekking Season
JUN–SEP
Drier conditions usually provide more manageable trekking trails. This is a popular period, and gorilla permits should be secured well in advance.
