Short Dry Season
Lower rainfall generally makes forest trails easier to navigate. This is a popular time for chimpanzee trekking, hiking and canopy walks.
MAR–MAY
Long Rainy Season
Heavier rainfall creates lush rainforest scenery and active waterfalls. Trails may become muddy, slippery and more physically demanding.
JUN–SEP
Peak Trekking Season
Drier conditions usually provide more manageable hiking trails. Chimpanzee permits and guided activities should be arranged in advance.
OCT–NOV
Short Rainy Season
Regular showers refresh the forest and support excellent birdlife. Visitor numbers may be lower, although trails can be wet and slippery.
