Not sure which route suits you? We will recommend the right climb for your fitness, experience and available time.
A Kilimanjaro climb depends on more than fitness. Careful pacing, experienced leadership, reliable equipment and a well-supported mountain crew shape your safety, comfort and overall experience.
Our longer, carefully paced itineraries give your body valuable time to adjust as the altitude increases.
Your climb is led by WFR-qualified guides and supported with first aid, emergency oxygen, GPS and satellite communication.
Quality tents, nourishing meals and a dedicated support crew help you rest and recover between trekking days.
We promote fair treatment, suitable equipment and responsible working conditions for the porters who make every climb possible.
“With SafariHQ, your Kilimanjaro climb is personally managed from the pre-trek briefing to your final descent, combining WFR-qualified guides, carefully planned acclimatization, dependable safety systems and a dedicated mountain crew to support you every step of the way.”

Choose a scenic western approach with varied landscapes, a quieter beginning and more time for gradual altitude acclimatization.
Follow Kilimanjaro’s popular camping route through rainforest, moorland and dramatic high-altitude scenery towards the summit.
Take Kilimanjaro’s classic hut-based route, following a more direct trail with overnight accommodation in permanent mountain huts.
Approach Kilimanjaro from its quieter northern side, following a remote camping trail through open wilderness with fewer climbers.
Compare each route by duration, accommodation, scenery, trail atmosphere and acclimatization to find the climb that best suits your experience, pace and summit goals.

Every safari begins with a conversation. We listen first, then design your journey around your interests, travel style, accommodation preferences and pace. No fixed templates — only yours.
From Tanzania and Kenya to Uganda and Rwanda, our specialists draw on first-hand local knowledge to recommend the right destinations, experiences and seasons for a safari designed around how you want to travel.
Every lodge and tented camp we recommend is chosen for its location, hospitality and guest experience — ensuring each stay complements your safari rather than simply accommodating it.
Your journey is backed by comprehensive insurance through ICEA Lion / Lloyd’s of London, 24/7 on-the-ground support and dedicated safari specialists before, during and after your journey.
Guest Experiences
Quick answers for planning your Kilimanjaro climb.
A professionally supported Kilimanjaro climb typically costs USD 2,500–4,500 per person, depending on the route, duration, group size and service level. Your quotation should clearly confirm park fees, mountain crew, meals, accommodation, equipment and transfers.
Lemosho suits climbers prioritising scenery and acclimatisation, while Machame offers the classic camping experience. Marangu provides mountain huts, and Rongai offers a quieter northern approach. The best route depends on your fitness, available time and preferred comfort.
Most Kilimanjaro routes take six to nine days on the mountain. Seven or eight days generally provides better acclimatisation than a shorter ascent. You should also allow at least one night before and after the climb.
The most popular climbing periods are January to March and June to October, when conditions are generally drier. Kilimanjaro’s weather can change quickly, and summit temperatures remain extremely cold throughout the year.
You do not need technical climbing experience, but good walking endurance, leg strength and determination are essential. Begin consistent cardiovascular, strength and hill-walking training approximately eight to twelve weeks before departure.
Experienced guides maintain a gradual pace, monitor climbers daily and respond to symptoms of altitude sickness. Altitude can affect anyone, regardless of fitness. Your guide may delay or end your climb if continuing would place your health at risk.
